photo: watching the world go by

Some vicarious traveling for all you readers. I’d like to go back to this area and take some more shots I think. Sunset would certainly be a very interesting time, with the sun reflecting on the water, more people rushing around and a general liveliness as opposed to the quietness of this shot.

marketing for slow times

At lean times for business, it is a good idea to sit and reconsider one’s marketing agenda. Often what happens in many companies is that the marketing plan is made only for the up times, and is often not able to handle slower market conditions and especially not geared for recessions. One of the ways to change things is to increase visitors to your website by upping the conversion rate optimization, which is essentially making use of every visitor, and making sure every visitor doesn’t just click out of your site, but stays to look, and hopefully converts into a sale. Most businesses are affected by the economic slowdown and so it makes sense to adjust the business plan and targeting strategy as well.

Working on your credit

Credit cards are something that one has to have these days. You can’t rent a car without them, you can’t book a hotel room or buy a plane ticket online without them either. They have become the essentials of our lives and no matter how good or bad your credit is, you just have to have access to a credit card. Unfortunately, for a lot of people with bad credit, getting a credit card is a really tough job, sometimes even an impossible job, which can make life rather tough if you’re going to travel. it is however possible to get credit cards for bad credit, by doing your homework and finding the right place to head to. There are many places where it is possible to get a credit card, no matter what your credit record is. Look out for sites that have lots of tips on how to repair your credit history, reviews of various card companies, special credit card offers and live chat help.

Argentina ahoy!

When it comes to traveling, I find that some of the more interesting and offbeat destinations are really becoming very popular. I’ve been reading quite a bit about Argentina lately, and it’s sounding more and more interesting with each article. In doing some research about Argentina, I headed over to a site that specializes in Argentina travel and was quite amazed to learn about the diversity and variety of its landscapes and people. As interested as I was on going there before, now I’m even more intrigued! Since I live quite far away, I’m not really sure when I’ll be able to go, but just having it in radar and in my must-go-to list is nice for now. It’s a start at least!

traveling right

Everyone loves going on vacation, traveling to new places, seeing new sights, but the one thing that can really ruin a vacation is being sick, so before you head out, make sure you have a backup. There’s a lot of variety of cheap travel insurance that one can take out for the duration of the trip, but most people don’t even bother. Having travel insurance means that you can get cash to buy essentials if your baggage is lost of delayed, flight is canceled and so on. I’d really recommend it as I’ve been in a lot of these jams without travel insurance and have learned the hard way.

focus

Ok, so there’s been a lot of breaks, false starts, meanderings and so on out here. I started this blog to write about retail, consumerism, marketing, trends and so on, and I’ve really not been keeping to the topics for quite some time now. The thing is that I’d like to broaden the scope, but since I don’t really have the flexibility of changing the name of the blog, I have to mostly stick to these topics. In a way, it makes it easier as I know I only have to focus on these topics, but sometimes reading about something of the same topic again and again can get boring as well. Let’s see where this takes us.

on learning new things

I’m not a big fan of indoor pets, but a good friend who is mad about them recently took me along to go shopping for pet beds. I really wasn’t interested in going at all, but sometimes it is just easier to go along with the flow than say no, isn’t it! Well, it was quite a learning experience as I had no idea there was such a specialization for something as simple as pet beds. She eventually ordered from an online store as they had the best selection and prices, but the day turned out to be quite fun. Just goes to show, one should always keep an open mind.
