The Power of Retail

Taking care of my laptop is one of my biggest priorities, since all of my work is dependent on it. I took my laptop back with me for maintainance work on my trip and since I did not plan to work at all for the duration of the trip, it was the perfect time to get things sorted out with it. I’ve been getting a fan error, which was due to the internal fan being broken. That has been fixed, but I’m still getting some software errors as yet, that I hope to have fixed pretty soon, once I do all the updates that are due. Hope that will take care of all my laptop problems then.

One of my main agenda’s of going home was to get some major maintainance done on my laptop. I’ve been using it for over 2 years now and have really used it a lot and there have been times that I seem to have lost data due to things going wrong, which is rather scary as I do all my work on my laptop. To figure our a way to protect my computer, therefore was a top priority for my trip back home.

I did manage to get lots of new software loaded on that will take care of it much better now, and also change some stuff around that will increase its space. I got myself an external drive, where I can now store all my work, without worrying about using up all my space, especially when it comes to photographs. It seems that just as I increase my capacity to store them, I end up taking more and more pictures and use up all available space. Well, that is unlikely to happen now with my new hard drive and all the other new gizmo’s that I have added on.

Well, I’m back home now after a break of over three weeks, which turned out to be one helluva fun time. The wedding was by far the most fun weddings I have ever attended and  I’m so glad that I was able to make it. It was one of those decisions that one makes that turn out being just right and if I hadn’t gone home, I would have ended up regretting it for the rest of my life. Well, no time to be philosophical about it, it’s time to get started on work in a few days now.

With the way businesses are headed now, it is absolutely essential to be a global company, and the most financially sound way to handle overseas business meetings is via Polycom Video Conferencing Systems, which make it just so simple to create and expand a business no matter where you are. Back to catching up with a bit of work now that the wedding is over. It was one helluva wedding, definitely one of the most fun ones that I have attended and been part of and it’s hard to believe that it’s actually over. It was great to catch up with everyone after over two years and I wonder when I’ll get the next opportunity to meet everyone like this again. Do hope it happens on a regular basis on occasions like this. But for now, its time to slowly get back to work especially once I head back home in a week or so.

One of the toughest parts of running a business is getting started and taking care of the company formation, which is the base for everything to come later on. A lot of people starting out, disregard the complexities of starting a company, such as the legalities and unless these are taken care of right in the begining, a company is not going to get much of a chance of succeeding in a competitiv business world.

I know of several small companies where the owners decided to take care of things themselves when they started off companies, and were just not able to keep up with all that was required in terms of legal requirements and ended up spending a lot of money later on trying to sort things out. It just makes so much more sense to start out in the right manner and concentrate on the business, rather than trying to take care of legal and accounting procedures.

Updating my blog after a long time as I have been totally caught up in the wedding festivities which culminated with the Reception last night. I can’t believe that it’s all over already, since we’ve been planning and organizing everything for so long. I’ve taken tons and tons of pictures, but am not going to be posting any of them here, since it’s just too personal. Hope to get back to more regular postings here though.
